Lime-green Peridot is the birthstone for the month of August, and is one of the few gemstones that can occasionally be found in meteorites. This stone was traditionally worn by the ancient Egyptian High Priest to remind him not to envy the Pharaoh's power, and has long been considered a protection against jealousy.

Peridot is said to assist in achieving emotional balance, helping to protect its wearer from the pain of a broken heart by encouraging intelligence and common sense in matters of the heart. It is said to both assist its wearer in better understanding their relationships, and in helping to bring strong emotions under better control.

This stone was also traditionally considered a money stone, and is said to attract wealth and abundance; some sources claim that keeping a Peridot in a cash box will help it to fill more quickly.
