Jewellery - Haematite

Haematite is characterised by a metallic, silvery-grey lustre, and can be easily magnetised due to its high iron content. Named for the Greek word for 'blood', this stone turns red when powdered, and was the 'red ochre' traditionally used as war paint, and for other ceremonial purposes by Native Americans.

Due to its magnetic nature, Haematite is believed to attract positive energy while repelling negativity. It is also said to help condense and focus scattered thoughts and emotions, and thus to enhance mental clarity. Unlike more 'spiritual' stones, Haematite focuses on the physical realm, helping to strengthen its wearer's sense of self.
