Jewellery - Diamond

The birthstone for the month of April, Diamond gets its name from the Greek word adamas, meaning 'unconquerable'. This meaning applies both to the inherent strength of the stone – the hardest mineral on Earth – and to the traditional practice of warriors who carried a diamond into battle in the belief that it would render them similarly invincible and could grant additional strength. Precious diamonds are usually colourless, though they can come in any colour (sometimes referred to as 'fancy diamonds').

Crystal Healers consider Diamond to be far and away the most powerful stone in their repertoire, and claim it can be used to open spiritual pathways and lends strength and abundance to any wish, thus helping bring its wearer’s deepest desires to fruition. It is still traditionally used in engagement rings throughout the Western world to represent love, fidelity, purity and innocence, and to lend its strength and invincibility to loving relationships. Legend has it that Cupid tipped his arrows with diamonds: it was the strength and loving energy of the diamond – not the arrow – that made his targets fall in love.
